Our beloved black pug, Pearl, brought so much joy and love into our lives.

A Poem for Pearl

I wondered what you were thinking
As Mum held you tightly in her lap.
Maybe you were thinking what a
Lovely place for a nap.

I wondered what you were thinking
As I held your hand in mine.
Maybe we were all on a walk,
A moment of eternal time.

I wondered what you were thinking
When the kind vet spoke your name.
Maybe you were a puppy
And playing a running game.

I wondered what you were thinking -
Your feelings, your thoughts, your mood.
Maybe you were munching
On a bowl of everlasting food.

I wondered what you were thinking,
Our beautiful little black pug.
Maybe you saw Dylan first
And ran to him for a hug.

I wondered what you were thinking
As we said our last goodbye.
Maybe you knew your little wings
Were ready now to fly.

I wondered what you were thinking
And what you would have said.
Maybe you were cosy
And sleeping in your bed.

I’ve just gone on before you,
We will see each other again.
I’m in a place of calm, peace, and love,
A place that’s free of pain.
